THREE COLLABORATIVE TEAMS MEET ON A WEIGHBRIDGE IN TEXAS

It was the end of August this year (2022) when teams from three companies took a break from their hectic schedules and converged on Jahns Farm in Rosebud, TX. The main attraction was a newly installed truck scale from Mid America Scale. Everyone involved wanted to celebrate a job well done and have a come-together-moment. ANYLOAD was able to organize it, and they hired a photographer to capture the event.

Meeting Industry Experts and Thought Leaders

According to Jay Visco, vice president of ANYLOAD LLC, “It was a special occasion and one we believe might be the first collaboration of its kind. Present that day was the truck scale manufacturer, the load cell manufacturer (who also manufactured the remote display and junction boxes), and the certified scale dealer who installed the scale. We were all on a weigh bridge in Texas, in the rain.”

Leading Up to the Memorable Gathering

In January 2021, at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Temple, TX, Troy Williams, owner of Central Texas Scale, crossed paths with Jay Visco for the first time. The conversation unveiled the legacy of three generations in the Williams family business. Troy, his wife Sandra, and their sons Justin and Matt had taken over from Jerry Williams in 2004, who had initially established the family-scale business in 1984 after acquiring it from Sherman-Pease.

Presently, Justin manages the service operations, while Matt serves as a technician. Troy attributed much of the business’s efficiency to Sandra, acknowledging her pivotal role in accounting and handling customer service calls. Sammy Gamino, another essential member of the CTS family, works as a service technician.

Their meeting at the Texas Roadhouse served the purpose of introducing Troy to Anyload, with Jay Visco emphasizing the distinctive aspects that set Anyload apart in the realm of load cell and weighing component suppliers. The personal connection, face-to-face interaction, held particular importance for Jay Visco.

During the encounter, Jay learned that a significant portion of Central Texas Scale’s business revolves around installing and servicing truck scales. Interestingly, Troy revealed that he sources his truck scales from Jay Schallner, owner of Mid America Scale in Oklahoma, prompting a realization for Visco.

Visco felt a sense of regret for not having reached out to Schallner earlier, acknowledging his reputation as an OEM weighbridge designer and manufacturer. Determined to amend this, Visco promptly engaged with Mid America Scale, sharing detailed information about Anyload’s product line.

This outreach yielded results. A conversation ensued between Visco and Schallner, leaving Visco impressed by Schallner’s work ethic and attention to weighbridge design intricacies. Recognizing a potential partnership, Anyload arranged for Visco and Jerry Finnegan (national sales manager) to meet Schallner in Oklahoma. Their visit not only brought them to Schallner’s home but also introduced them to his family, including his wife Sherry, a federal administrative judge in Oklahoma.
